Which Driver’s License is valid?
In general, the rule is that foreign licenses are valid for six months. However, if you maintain your permanent place of residence in your home country, you have it easier since your driver’s license has no time limits. But if you do claim a residence in Germany, you can legally sit behind the wheel for half a year. After that, your license must be transferred, with the exceptions of EU or EEC licenses. With some countries, this transfer requires the theoretical and driving tests, which are administered by driving schools. - A declaration that the license is still valid

In some cases, the foreign license must be translated by a German diplomatic representation or a German or foreign automobile club. Exceptions are Andorra, Hong Kong, Monaco, New Zealand, San Marino, Switzerland, Senegal, Cyprus and Hungary.
