How to find a Degree Programme
From Aeronautical and Aerospace Engineering to Zoology – study courses at German universities are legion and German students can chose from a variety of over 11 000 different degree courses. An online orientation guide, the Higher Education Compass, is published by the German Rectors’ Conference (HRK), a voluntary association of state and state-recognised universities and other higher education institutions in Germany. The database is a comprehensive search tool for all study courses at German institutions of higher education.
Degree Programmes
These basic study courses lead to a first university degree such as Bachelor, Diploma, or even Magister or State Exam. The entrance requirement is the general qualification for university entrance ("Abitur“ or equivalent) but some specialised degree courses may have additional requirements such as pre-study work experience or entrance exams.
Special Graduate Studies
Special graduate study programmes usually require a relevant first degree and / or work history. They are aimed at students wishing to further qualify in specific areas of their first degree.
