Freiburg University's new university foundation, established to mark the 550th anniversary of the university in 2007, is offering scholarships worth a total of 100.000 EUR for the summer term 2009. The stipends will be awarded to outstanding students and PhD candidates, and there are a variety of programmes for different subject areas. Freiburg University is one of the universities selected within the German Excellence Initiative; 21,500 students are currently enrolled in more than 60 fields in 11 faculties.
