How to find accommodation in Germany?

Hi lovely people! Since I came to Cologne in Germany, I’ve been asked many questions especially about accommodation from other international students.  In personal opinion, it is not easy to find it in the short term because Germany welcomes many internationals.

However there are variety of ways to find your place to live and I would like to highly recommend incoming students to get to start looking for it in advance. Let’s have a look several room types and general ways to find them in Germany.

Sharing flat is the most common way to live for international students in Germany. When you write application mail, these things are important; quick reply, write in German, introduce your strong point (like cooking, cleaning, and easy going etc.)

2: Students dormitory

Cheap and easy to access to your school! You may have to wait several month until it’s unoccupied so just in cace resister in advance.

3: Ask locals

There would be a community page of your school in Germany on SNS like Facebook. Asking local people is good and easy way to find accommodation.

Hope incomings can find your comfortable place as soon as possible!
