Moment 4: Time Management = Activity Management

Another weekend coming means another new week to start with. Are you excited about planning personal growth and exploration in ourselves? I believe you do, too!
Making plans is what people tell you all the time, no matter having a good life in Germany or anywhere else. But what does that actually mean? Going a bit reflexive is irresistible for me, especially when we talk about how we manage time, how we make time, and most important of all, how we achieve our goals. So that’s it!
Let’s take a look at what ‘time’ could be. A wise person working with me in my part-time job, a Ph.D. student in the theology department of University Heidelberg, shares his thoughts (as well as his thesis topic) on the linguistic side of the concept of time, while we work. To keep it short, in human language, when we use the term ‘time’, one of the usages among others is that it works as a condenser that it carries and compresses, regardless of the linear or mathematical numerical order property, a series of activities. For example, in this phrase, ‘We had a very good time last evening.’ This is easy to understand because it actually denotes the activities that you enjoyed, it could be: (1) You got a nice wine-cloudy feel and having witty chats with close or new friends, a great dinner after a long day work. (2) You just made a record in your running pace or strength training or accomplish a group task in your teamwork. (3) … you name it! The point here is that the numerical linear concept of time actually disappears or goes behind. A digression, in the last preview of BBC Dr. Who Series, Dr. Who says, ‘My time is running out.’ He means, in my interpretation, he has no more resource, no more chance, no more possibility, no more hope, no more… so these are embedded in the association of time, too.
Anyway, time management, therefore, is a cluster of resource/activity/experience management in multiple senses, as we should see it before we try to tackle it.
Hope you will find this approach helpful when you feel stressed and chased after by time. 🙂 Just remember and ask yourself, what activity and experience you want to have to make you mentally, emotionally or anything else, confident? then fit them nicely into the more imagined numerical linear timetable, and work it out.
