Carl-Ludwig-Haus
Geschwister-Scholl-Straße 1 , 35039 Marburg
"Carl-Ludwig-Haus" is part of the Student Village and was built in 1964. An Olympic Village is a temporary home for participants in the Olympic Games. The Student Village is situated at the foot of the mountain Kornberg, between the quarters Ortenberg and Waldtal. It offers students more than just accommodation: there are seven student residences in which students can study, live, have fun and communicate in many languages. Both new and more advanced students feel comfortable there. Students from all over Germany meet fellow students from different continents.
The Houses in the Students Village with classical single rooms offer fully furnished rooms, including a washing basin, communal showers, bathrooms, and a communal kitchen. The tutors rooms were built for singles, yet there is space for two students. The advantage of these rooms is that students have to share their cooking space with one person only, and they have their own bathroom, though they must make use of communal toilets. The disadvantage is that one of the rooms is a walk-through room.
In May 2014, a new meeting centre, the Max Kade Centre, was opened in the Student Village. This new building provides a new space for an exchange between young people from different nations. Moreover, a four-storey residential building with 49 accommodations was built next to the actual meeting centre in which students can meet, have parties and make music. The Max Kade Foundation, which promotes international communication particularly between young people, supports the realisation of this project.
