The “Spielwerk” nursery - maintained by the Studierendenwerk - gives precedence to the children of students, in order to help those students combine studying with childcare successfully. The nursery offers reliable childcare from experienced and well-trained pre-school teachers. The educational work is based on the education and childcare recommendations issued by the state of Rhineland-Palatinate. A total of twelve pre-school teachers look after the children – aged between 8 weeks and 6 years – in one baby group (10 children) and three mixed-age groups (each of 15 children).
Kita “Spielwerk“

Additionally, the nursery run by the protestant whole church congregation offers 10 spaces for the children of students and staff at FH Kaiserslautern University of Applied Sciences. The nursery looks after 125 children in total, between 8 weeks old and the time they start school. There are groups for babies, small mixed-aged groups and open kindergarten groups.
Protestant Day Care Centre

The ”Initiative Kita an der Uni Kaiserslautern” (Initiative for Nurseries at the University of Kaiserslautern) society was founded as far back as 1994, at the request of students. The society now runs two nurseries, which receive financial support from Kaiserslautern students’ union:
- The nursery “Uni-Kita” is located at Pfaffenbergstraße 87 and has space for 40 children aged up to six years. Children of students at the university take precedence. Childcare is provided all day, with the children divided into three groups.
- The nursery “Klammeräffchen” offers 20 places for young children in two groups. The modern, newly-constructed building has been in place since 2006 and is located at Fraunhofer Platz 2, next door to the Fraunhofer Institut.
