Overview

The housing complex was rebuilt in 2000 with funds from the Max Kade Foundation and is composed of two architecturally different parts. As "House of International Encounter", the complex is named "Max Kade".

Building A offers single apartments and shared flats for two persons as well as one living area equipped for the disabled.
Building B offers flat shares for three to four persons with a communal kitchen and sanitary areas.

The rooms are equipped with data network connections allowing access to the MLU network.
A tram stop very close to the housing complex takes residents to the inner city very quickly.

Rent deposit
Before moving in, the renter has to transfer a deposit in the amount of three times the monthly rent, but no more than 350 EUR via bank transfer or in cash.

Duration of housing
The rental agreement is automatically extended by one semester up to a maximum period of six semesters. The cancelation of the contract has to be mentioned two months in advance. The six-semester-period can be extended upon request.

Shared facilities
A room with washing machines and dryers is provided in the housing complex.

The recreation room in Complex A can be used by residents for cultural events and communal meetings subject to agreement with the property management. There are plenty of parking spaces for cars and bikes on the grounds of the housing complex, as well as opportunities for sports activities.

Special deals for international students
In the dormitories run by the Student Administration (Studentenwerk Halle), there are (international students who also live in the dormitories). Their task is to help international fellow students to quickly get accommodated and feel at home.

The "culture tutors" of the International Office are responsible for a for international students at the University of Halle, featuring an international monthly Stammtisch, excursions, cultural evenings, concerts and much more.

Special deals for students with children / families
To care for children of students aged up to six years, it offers facilities in Köthen and Halle (Weinberg), which are focused on the needs of collegiate parents and also preferably offer space to children of students.

The childcare facility is open daily from 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m and offers space for 175 children altogether. 75 of them are dedicated for the nursery and 100 for the kindergarten. All the children receive all-round care.

As long as there are not any differing arrangements between the Studentenwerk and the tenant, the key handover for the rental object takes place Monday to Friday between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. On weekends and bank holidays, there is no entitlement to a handover of keys. Individual key collections outside these hours via authorised third parties have to be arranged with the administration beforehand.
