For this dormitory, you can book a so called . The ServicePackage covers the most important issues encountered at the start of your degree and makes bureaucracy a lot less daunting. Even before you arrive, a personal go-to person is assigned to you. You'll also receive extensive support to make sure everything runs smoothly during the first couple of days. Besides this, you can take part in a weekend-excursion organised by Studierendenwerk Heidelberg.

What's included and how much does it cost?
The ServicePackage includes:
- accommodation in a dormitory for one semester (= six months)
- a Semesterticket
- a CampusCard with an initial credit amount of 95 EUR
- one weekend-excursion to Munich

A ServicePackage costs 2,500 EUR (plus 450 EUR deposit for the room in the dormitory) for one semester (= six months). In addition to this you can also book a health insurance and/or book a transfer per minibus from Frankfurt International airport to Heidelberg:

Who can book a ServicePackage?
University applicants from abroad with little knowledge of German, who haven't yet lived or studied in Germany, and who have sent an application for admission to the University of Heidelberg (Universität Heidelberg) or the University of Education (Pädagogische Hochschule). Short-term or exchange students (e.g. Erasmus/Socrates), as well as students from foreign German-speaking areas are given a lower priority.

How long can a ServicePackage be reserved for?
A ServicePackage can only be booked for one semester. After this, you can extend the contract with a normal rental contract (without a ServicePackage).

When does the ServicePackage contract begin and end?
The winter semester at the University of Heidelberg begins on 1st October and ends on 31st March. The summer semester begins on 1st April and ends on 30th September. The ServicePackage contract therefore begins either on 1st October or 1st April. If you are attending a preparatory language class in September or March, then you can reserve the ServicePackage for a month earlier. (This costs 300 EUR extra.)

Special deals for students with children / families
Around 5% of students in Heidelberg are parents. Since the end of the 1960s, the Heidelberg student union has offered all-day childcare to make sure that their children are well looked after whilst their parents are busy concentrating in lectures. Children in Heidelberg receive loving care starting from eight months to school age; in Heilbronn until they are three. The amount parents pay monthly is graded, in all daycares, according to gross income. You can find application forms in the InfoCenter, from daycare managers on-site, at nursery management or .
