Overview

The four-level building Emdenstraße was acquired by the Studentenwerk Hannover on November 1, 2014; it is a student house for women only. It is located in a nice and quiet neighbourhood, close to the green river sides of Leine and Ihme.

There are shopping options and public transport stops within walking distance. The popular student quarter Linden is right next to this neighbourhood. The Nordstadt quarter and the city centre are also quite close.

The Leibniz University is easily reached in a few minutes. The ten minute walk to the university runs along the river side and through the beautiful green area Georgengarten.

The furniture has to be supplied by the tenants. Internet contracts are concluded directly with a provider.

The "Wohnhaus Emdenstraße" is currently being renovated. Construction is expected to last until September/October 2023.

Rent deposit
The deposit will be withdrawn via direct debit together with the first month's rent. Its height depends on the monthly rent (1.5 times the basic rent).

Duration of housing
Rentals are limited to six semesters/three years. In case of substantial reasons (illness, committee work, exams, occupation at the Self-Administration of the Dormitory, etc.) the time of occupancy may be prolonged for a maximum of three semesters.

At nearby Limmerstraße, which is ten minutes away, there is a big supermarket. The Limmerstraße is well-supplied with other shopping options, such as bakeries, organic food shops, groceries, butchers, fruit and vegetable shops, book stores, second-hand shops, clothing boutiques, stationary and gift shops, cafés, etc.

Dormitory Management
The Dormitory Management is your contact for all formalities, questions and problems with regards to living in the dormitory. Please note: If you want to apply for a place in a Dormitory, please contact the Department for Student Residential Affairs (Jägerstraße 5), not the local Dormitory Management!

Self-Administration of the Dormitory (HSV)
The self-administration of the dormitory is elected from and by the group of the student residents. At the dormitory Dorotheenstraße, the HSV is particularly active. It keeps contact with the Student Administration, organises dormitory assemblies and parties, manages the students pub "Silo-Pinte" and sometimes arbitrates in case of dispute. The HSV is operated on a voluntary basis. Suggestions and cooperation are always appreciated!
