About Jinmeng

Hi! My name is Jinmeng, you can also call me Momo.

Growing up in a small Chinese village, I always wanted to explore the world and experience something new. My curiosity towards the unknown culture and life have motivated me to keep going. In 2019, I attended a summer course in Germany. It was the first time for me to travel aboard and defiantly a out of comfort zone experience. But it was great. I was very impressed by the diversity and openness in German society. I like the student life in Germany because students have power to impact important decisions made at university. Everyone’s voice is respected. Students here can also decide their own schedule and organize their study life the way they want. This experience has motivated me to apply for masters in Germany.

Now, I have been studying translation at FTSK Germersheim for 2 years. It was not easy for everyone during the pandemic. Being involved in student organizations like AStA has helped me a lot in the last two years in terms of making new friends and adapting new life here. I am trying to live the life I wished for and becoming the person that I wanted to be.

Last year, I started to write blogs about my life in Germany on a Chinese platform and I saw many students who shared similar experiences to mine. This summer I decided to share more stories on a bigger platform for international students, hoping that my happiness and sorrow can comfort, inspire or motivate more young people to overcome the invisible barriers, and to pursue their unique life.
