Deliberating on what kind of student work to do

It is super important for a student to learn to strike a balance between work and studies in Germany. I didnt work in my first semester in Germany because i was on a DAAD scholarship and i was also a bookworm so i didnt want any distractions whatsoever. I needed to plan ahead of the next semester because my scholarship was just for a semester. It was important that i carefully choose what type and nature of student job i would be doing to cater for my upkeep, because i didnt want to jeopardise my academics and i was also keen on learning the german language . This made me think critically on my choice of job which will be flexible enough for me to choose when and how i will be working.

Chose to do the sport i enjoy doing the most

I ended up choosing to work for a delivery company. They offered awesome working flexibilities where i can choose the period of the week and time of each day in which i could work. My entusiasm for biking has always been there from childhood on, so this job gave me the opportunity to explore the city even while earning. I was so delighted about the job because it gives me the opportunity to focus on my academics conviniently, see almost everywhere in berlin while biking and also do one of the sports i like doing best. That was a mission accomplished for me, when it comes to striking a balance between studying and working. While booking my shifts again the following week, i make a to-do list on things to do on that week and try as much as possible to avoid clashing with my shifts. This has helped me a lot in being diligent in my studies.

At some point in my first year in the uni i got a chance to work as a communication officer for a project in my university. Although this helped me reduce the number of hours i spend making food deliveries in Berlin, it has also made my working and studying plans more complex. Despite this complications, i endeavour to keep to all schedules and avoid overlaps at all cost.
